Further outlines, the eyes are greatly detailed (relatively speaking) and a play on the hands. One can see the mad determination - the joke is also on father and son relationships as well.

Lots of very thick, and buttery white paint is added to reform the outlines of the cyclists and the sun. More mesh is added to show handle-bars. The sun and helmets are reworked to create shapes typical of naive art. The white is applied while under layers are damp so that it becomes slightely coloured by this.

The man in the middle has been eliminated. The sun higher up has been built up including the use of mesh. Now I concentrate on the outlines of the faces and bodies, more playful and cartoony as well as add collage to bring forward the eyes/sunglasses.

Deep dark red paint creates areas of contrast. I also drip on very runny green paint to create an interesting effect.

Splatterings of green follow the blue... this is where the fun really lies.... just throwning paint around, flicking the brush and swinging a loaded paint brush in strong movements... like you would with a WII !!!

Still Life 5 emphases 2 primary shapes. Firstly, the pear shape which is evident in both the pears and figs. Secondly, a play on squares or a more boxed shape as well how it is built up to create steps and a checkered pattern.

An original painting that balances the abstract with the figurative. Thick layers of paint applied using a variety of techniques is balanced by the pink and white surrounding areas of paint that creates a flat surface through use of palette knife.
